Major Update: I’m Looking for a New Home!

Hey there, I’m Major, and I’m ready to report for duty—as your new best friend! I’m a Golden Retriever who’s turning 5 in June, and while I’ve lived in a home before, I’m now on the lookout for my forever base camp. I’ve got a Major heart, a Major love for tennis balls, and a Major amount of sweetness to share.

Let’s get this out of the way: yes, I’m ridiculously handsome. Like, cover-of-a-dog-calendar level. But I’m more than just a pretty floof—I’m a total goofball with a soft side. My favorite hobby? Tennis ball treasure hunting. I’ll chase one down like a pro, and then try to bury it like it’s top secret intel. You’ll laugh every time, I promise.

Now, full disclosure: I’m a bit of a Major puller on leash. I get excited—there’s just so much to sniff! I could use some help in the “heel” department, but I’m eager to learn if you’ve got the patience (and treats).

I’m hoping to find a home that can give me the enrichment, attention, and space I need. A nice fenced-in yard would be perfect for my tennis ball missions and zoomie sessions. I’d prefer to be your one and only dog, and I’d do best with older kids who understand that sometimes a guy just wants a little chill time.

Hi there! We’re Baluga and Narwal – two big, goofy, lovable whale-sized cuddlebugs looking for a forever home together!

We’re a bonded pair of best buds who have been through a lot, but we’ve stuck by each other’s side through every wave. We came up from the South and have been learning and growing here at Yankee — from leash manners to how to be total charmers (okay, that one came naturally).

We’re both fin-tastically friendly with people and we absolutely adore our walks — we strut like two gentle giants who know exactly where the treat jar is. And when we’re not exploring the neighborhood, we’d love a backyard to stretch out in and roll around. We’re big boys with big hearts, and a yard would let us splash around in the sunshine like the happy whales we are at heart.

We’re total love bugs — the kind of pups who lean in for cuddles, melt into belly rubs, and always make sure you know how much we appreciate you. If you’re looking for double the joy, double the love, and double the whaley good times, we might just be your perfect match.

Hi there… I’m Gracie. I’m a 7-year-old Goldendoodle, and for most of my life, I didn’t know what it meant to be loved, to be safe, or to just be a dog. I came from a place where I was only seen for what I could produce, not for who I am. When I arrived at Yankee, I was in rough shape—my body was tired, my spirit was timid, and the world felt overwhelming. But thanks to the kind people here, I’m getting the care I’ve always needed, and for the first time, I feel a little spark of hope.

I’m still learning that gentle hands mean kindness, that soft beds are meant for me, and that there’s a whole world beyond the only life I’ve ever known. I’m nervous and shy, but can you blame me? Everything is new—sounds, sights, love. I want to believe in it all, I really do. I just need time.

I dream of a quiet home with patient hearts who will let me come out of my shell at my own pace. A fenced-in yard would help me feel safe as I start to explore this big, new world. And if there’s another dog in my future home? That would be the best. I’ve never really known how to “dog” properly, but I’d love to learn from a gentle, confident friend who can show me that life isn’t so scary after all.

I know I may not be the kind of dog who runs into your arms on day one. But if you give me your heart, I promise I will try my very best to give you mine. I just need someone to believe in me. Could that be you?

“Attention! Stop and give me 20 treats!” Chief here to whip you into shape for all the cuddles, snuggles and pets! Oh, not to mention the gentlest game of tug or an endless round of fetch (my favorite).

I’m an older southern gentleman, a Georgia peach as they say, that had a rough time before making my way to Yankee. My previous home had a little one that just wasn’t my cup of sweet tea so I was surrendered to a shelter and discovered by a friend of YGRR who knew I would have my best chance there! I quickly won the hearts of the staff here with my never-ending prairie dog impersonations. Some of the tricks I’m best at are sit, paw, down, and of course, prairie dog! I also know “get your ball” and “where’s your ducky.”

A little more about me. I love to be brushed, have not met a snack that I don’t like, hate being left alone for long periods of time, and I bond quickly to my people. I’m very protective of my space and my favorite people so I’ll always keep you safe. You’ll never be lonely with me around! As much as I love playing non-stop fetch and earning treats with my cuteness, I don’t mind a nap on the couch if that’s your speed.

I’d do best in a home without children, other pets, or a lot of foot traffic. A quiet life with my people is all I need. I’m tolerant of other doggos outside of my space but I’d much rather be your only companion. So, if you’re ready for a loyal retired companion, I’m the guy for you!

Hiya! I’m Benny the Bernedoodle, your future best buddy with a wagging tail and a big heart! I’m originally from the hustle and bustle of New York City, so I’m used to being on the move. Long walks? Yes, please! Agility courses? My favorite! I love meeting new people (I’m quite the socialite) and playing with other dogs who can keep up with my playful antics.

I recently got a fresh shave, and while my fluffy coat is taking a little break, I’m still as dashing as ever. But don’t let the haircut fool you—I’m more than just a pretty face! I’m also one of the cuddliest guys you’ll ever meet. I love curling up on the couch for a nap, getting belly rubs, and giving kisses. I can snooze all day if that’s your vibe, or be ready to play if you are—whatever energy you’re bringing, I’ll match it.

While I’ve got a fun, active side, my energy is very manageable. A couple of outings a day where I can sniff, explore, and get some mental stimulation is really all I need. I do great in the car (perfect trail buddy!) and I’m fully house-trained—no accidents at all in my foster’s apartment.

I’ve done so well with every person and dog I’ve met. I get excited around them but I’m polite—no barking or making a scene! I’d do really well with a dog friend in the home who enjoys playing, and I’ve got a special place in my heart for cheese and canned stew (hint hint).

I’m super smart, so if you only put me in a gated area when you leave, I’ll catch on quick! I’d prefer to sleep in your room (a cozy pen or gated area works fine if you’re not a “dogs on the bed” person) It’s a work in progress, and I’m getting better every day, but I’ll need a patient adopter who understands that I just really love being with my people.

I’m also a bit mouthy when I get excited—I might nibble your sleeve, finger, or necklace (never to hurt you, just how I play!). Tug of war and outdoor games help with that. I’ve also shown some very mild resource guarding because of this and my mouthy play style, I’m looking for a home without kids.

Apartment or house? Doesn’t matter to me—as long as I get some good outdoor time. I love off-leash running in a secure area and would be thrilled with daily romps in a fenced yard or dog park.
