What We Need in a Forever Home:

  • A calm, patient, and understanding household

  • A secure, fully fenced yard

  • Consistency, kindness, and gentle guidance

  • A confident, friendly dog in the home is a plus

Hi everyone, we’re Challah and Brioche. We came from a severe hoarding situation in New York where we were neglected. We’re incredibly nervous, but we find so much comfort in each other, and we’d really love to keep it that way.

Everything is new to us — leashes, pets, and kind people. We’re just trying to figure it all out, and we hope our new family will be patient with us throughout this process. We also do some reactive barking, especially when there are barriers between us and something that worries us, like strangers. We’re learning, though — we just need time and patience.

We absolutely need an understanding home with a secure, fully fenced yard. We’re not leash trained or fully housetrained yet, and the yard gives us a safe way to explore, decompress, and enjoy being outside without fear. We’re still figuring out how to trust people, but with a calm environment, consistency, and kindness, we know we can grow. We would do well with another confident, friendly dog in the home. We love following their lead!

If you’re looking for two loyal companions with a ton of potential, we might be the perfect pair for you.

What I Need in a Forever Home:

  • A quiet, adult-only home

  • No other pets — I need to be your one-and-only

  • A secure, fenced yard

  • An adopter committed to training, structure, and continued progress

  • Patience, consistency, and respect for my boundaries

  • Someone who understands dog body language and believes in meeting dogs where they are

This is Rosebud, reporting in with an urgent PSA about my future human.

Please spread the word far and wide—because even if you aren’t my forever person, you might know the one who is.

Let’s get this out of the way first:
Yes, I know I’m cute. You don’t have to tell me.
But you do have to read my whole bio—because looks alone won’t tell you who I really am.

Here’s the truth: I haven’t always had choices. Where I came from, I didn’t get a say in how I was treated, who handled me, or what happened next. Because of that, I’m still learning about trust, safety, and what it means to have my voice heard.

The good news? The staff and volunteers here have done so much work with me, and it’s made a real difference. Thanks to their patience and dedication, I’ve made meaningful progress and continue to grow every day. I’m currently working on dog reactivity and learning how to get into cars on my own, and while these are still challenges for me, I’m trying—and improving—with the right support.

I wasn’t properly socialized early on, so new people and handling can feel like big emotions. I need patience, consistency, and someone who understands dog body language. I’m also a resource guarder with high-value items, which means pushing me before I’m ready can lead to misunderstandings—and neither of us deserves that.

Now for the good stuff—because yes, there’s a lot of it.

Once I trust you?
I’m playful, silly, affectionate, and full of personality. I’ll bring you toys, ask for gentle affection, and show you the soft, loyal heart underneath my brave exterior. I love being outside, especially in a fenced yard where I can explore, play fetch, and just be without pressure.

My biggest fear is that someone will choose me for my looks and not for who I really am—and then give up when I don’t fit the “perfect golden” expectation.

But my biggest hope?
That someone reads this and thinks, I can meet her where she is. I can give her the choice and voice she never had.

If that sounds like you… I’m ready when you are
