I go by Tanji – but Tangelino, TJ, TanMan, Tanjiroon, or doofus work as well. I can say I was truly saved by YGRR, as I was set to be put to sleep the day they swooped in and secured a place for me at Yankee. I was someone’s dog at some point in my life, as I sadly have scars around my neck from a collar that was probably left on too tight. But I must have somehow gotten away from that situation, and was then a stray, just roaming the streets in Texas. A good Samaritan was feeding me everyday for weeks. I would meet her at our “spot” eat some food, hang out with her a little, and then she would leave until the next day. I stopped showing up for feeding for a few days and then showed back up with an injury of sorts on my head. She took me to a shelter to get proper treatment, and I was unfortunately not going to make it to the adoption floor due to my injuries.
Yankee saw me, and took me under their wing, brought me to MA, and treated my injuries.
I have since been learning to “dog”. Things like learning what toys are, and how to play with them. What to do when you are walking me. I even now know how to sit, lie down, and settle on a bed when asked to!
I have bonded here with a few staff members in particular, and would love to go to a home where I can have my own people to bond with and continue my journey with me.
I enjoy the company of certain other dogs, but it sort of depends on how we mesh, so I would rather be the only dog in my home with maybe some dog friends to go on walks with or hang out with from time to time after proper introductions.
I am still a bit goofy with my body and will run into your legs because I don’t know where my body is in space. Hence, doofus. I LOVE to go through your legs from behind to get your attention! It’s like MY trick that I brought along with me. It’s endearing.
I enjoy long walks, play time (now that I am learning what toys are), soccer balls, sticks, and galloping around in circles like a horse with my tongue out. I also enjoy learning new things and am very food motivated, so PLEASE a home that wants to keep helping me to learn all the life-skills I’ve missed out on by living in the bad situations I was in previously.
While I am on the search for my forever home I would love to learn how to “dog” with a a foster that can lead the way. I do need a home with no young kids, and a home that understands that food was once a rarity to me. I don’t want to share edible items once you give them to me, so just give me the space I needs to eat it and move on.
