What I Need in a Forever Home:
- A patient, loving family who will help me continue building my confidence
- A fenced-in yard where I can safely explore and enjoy some freedom while I work on my leash skills
- A family who understands that I can get nervous in unfamiliar situations and may need a little extra encouragement
- Older children or teenagers who can respect my boundaries and help me feel comfortable
- I can live with other dog-savvy dogs who will respect my space
Hi everyone, Margarita here! They say life’s better with a little Margarita, and I happen to agree!
I’m a 2-year-old Doodle mix who traveled all the way from the South to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue in hopes of finding my forever family! My friends here don’t know too much about my life before arriving, but there’s one thing they’ve figured out pretty quickly: I’m an absolute LOVEBUG!
Want to know the quickest way to my heart? A comfy dog bed and some good old-fashioned belly rubs! Seriously, there’s nothing better than flopping down on a cozy bed, rolling onto my back, and letting someone give my belly all the attention it deserves. If you’re looking for a snuggle buddy, I think we could be a pretty great match!
Now, as sweet as I am, I’m still figuring out this big world around me. One thing I’m working on is my leash skills. Sometimes when I’m unsure about something, I like to put on the brakes, flop right over, and show everyone my belly instead. I mean, can you blame a girl for trying to turn a walk into a belly rub session? While it might be a little silly, it’s also my way of saying I’m not quite comfortable yet. I’m looking for a family who understands that I may need some patience, reassurance, and time to build my confidence.
Because I’m still learning the ropes, I’d really benefit from having a fenced-in yard where I can safely roam, sniff, and explore at my own pace while continuing to practice my leash skills.
I could also share my forever home with other dog-savvy dogs who understand that I’m still gaining confidence. As for kiddos, I think I’d feel most comfortable in a home with older children or teenagers who can give me the space and understanding I need as I settle in.
The good news? I’ve already learned SO much since arriving at Yankee! Every day I’m making progress, discovering new things, and showing everyone just how much love I have to give. I just need a family who’s ready to keep helping me learn and celebrate all those little milestones along the way.
I may not be the most confident girl at the party just yet, but I promise I’ve got all the ingredients to be one amazing companion: a whole lot of sweetness, a splash of silliness, and endless love to give!
