Hi, I’m Focaccia, one of the Bread Boys. My brothers and I came from a hoarding case in New York, and our early lives were filled with fear and neglect. The world wasn’t kind to us back then, and it left me unsure of almost everything. Since coming to Yankee, I’ve been safe — but I’ve also been waiting.

I’ve been here for a little bit now, quietly watching the world go by as I slowly learn that it might be okay to be part of it. Every day, I work up a little more courage. I’m still a nervous boy, but my heart wants connection, even when I don’t quite know how to ask for it yet.

One thing I know for certain is this: other dogs are my absolute favorite thing in the world. They are my comfort, my teachers, and my confidence. I rely on them to show me that new things aren’t so scary. Having a confident dog friend in my home isn’t just a preference — it’s essential to my happiness. With another dog by my side, I blossom into a playful, joyful pup, racing around the yard in happy zoomies and inviting my buddy to join me.

Because I’m still building confidence and don’t yet have leash skills, I’ll need a secure, fenced-in yard where I can safely explore. I can be a bit of a flight risk, so a calm, predictable environment helps me feel secure.

I’m learning to trust people too. I’ve recently become brave enough to take treats from gentle hands — a small moment, but a big victory for me. I’m still figuring out what affection feels like, so I’ll need someone patient who’s willing to let me set the pace.

I’ve been waiting here, hoping for a calm and understanding home — one with a secure yard, a kind heart, and a confident dog who can show me the way. I don’t need perfection. I just need a chance. If you can offer that, I promise I’ll keep trying, one brave step at a time.
