What's New

Happily Adopted!
Maggie, YGRR #4526

Maggie's original owner called YGRR because she was working two jobs, moving to a new home and was never home to take care of her Golden girl. Her owner said eight-year-old Maggie was a wonderful dog and loved everyone she met. She had not been able to afford vet visits to bring Maggie up to date on vaccinations or to provide pills for heartworm protection. She was able to feed Maggie a special diet because of her skin and ear issues and bathed Maggie with special shampoos.

Maggie was taken to the YGRR veterinarian where she was brought up to date on her vaccinations and given treatment for ear infections. She then came to Riverview and didn't have to wait long for her new family! Adopters were called to come and meet Maggie and understood the ongoing care Maggie would need with her skin and ear issues. Now, Maggie is in her new home and her family describes her as an absolute joy. They say it feels like she has lived with them forever. Her adopters take walks every day which oftentimes include swimming at the beach--which Maggie loves! Indeed, she is wet in most of the photos they take of her since swimming has become one of her most favorite pastimes.

YGRR is a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization which provides veterinary care and permanent new homes for Golden Retrievers from the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont). We are a full-service rescue and we assist Goldens of all ages and medical conditions. Our youngest Rescue Golden was part of an abandoned litter born at Riverview (our rescue and adoption facility) and our oldest Rescue Golden was fourteen at the time of admission to our program. We rescued our first Golden in April, 1985 and placed our 4000th Golden during the year 2004.

ALL the Goldens who appear on this Web site are YGRR Goldens. YGRR relies on donations, fund-raising activities and memberships for its income. We do not receive any state or federal funds. Donations to YGRR are tax deductible.
